Bodog Loses Domain Name Due To Patent Dispute
Computers, 2007-08-28, by TwoGun
Bodog, one of the largest US-facing online gambling operators, had its domain name, bodog.com, pulled from them.
According to Gambling911.com, Bodog lost its domain name due to a patent infringement case. 1st Technology LLC sued Bodog over its use of broadcasting multimedia information.
Since the court case took place in the US, Bodog did not show up in court, due to fear of arrest since it takes US bets. It is also not known if Bodog even knew about the court date. The judge ruled in favor of 1st Technology LLC and ordered that the company receive the bodog.com domain name.
It is expected that Bodog will aggressively try to regain its domain name, as permanently losing bodog.com would be a devastating blow to the company.
